Clinician Guide to Medical Writing 9780387222493 Medicine Health Science Books Reviews
- This is a great book and truly a must read for all junior medical faculty. I bought this for myself thirteen years ago when I went into academic medicine. Reading it has helped me signficantly in learning many tips and insights in how to think about writing and subsequently getting my work (articles, research, book chapters and a book) published. Robert Taylor is truly a gifted teacher who has been 'paying it forward" by sharing what he has learned over a distinquished career in academic medicine. I have bought this book for two junior faculty members who now work with me. I know it will help them as it has helped me. I recommend looking at other works by this author as well. The Clinician's Guide to Medical Writing is one of my favorites.
- If you are a clinician and want to write articles for journals but don't have a clue as to how to start, your quest for guidance stops here! Reading this book is like someone sitting beside you and gently telling you what to do next. It contains chapters on writing all different kinds of articles reporting original research, systematic reviews, clinical reviews, case reports, etc. Also, it goes into writing style and mistakes to avoid. Definitely a must read for the newcomer to medical writing!
- Everyone should write about his/her experiences in life.Mostly if he/she is a physician. The development in science come from the answers to questions formulated by simple humanbeings, after their observations of what happens with each patient (no one is equal)and how things appear to be different from what we thought they where. Then those ouf us trained to search for repetitive patterns go and "discover" what then comes to be our new "truth".
This knowledge is possible because some of us believe in what they can see, hear, smell and touch. In other words, some of us do not rest until the observations are comunnicated to others and so far studied. From this intention to tell other what we,physicians, think of many many things that aren't yet stablished, like signals and symptoms we see in our daily work but are not wellknown in the art of cure, the first step is done.Cientists go further and discover relevant treatments or ways of prevention this or that disease. This is how we move on.
One helping others.Comunnication between peers is needed.More than this it's an obbligation. Each of us has to publish in languages other than our own to reach more people. As English is an universal language we must do our best to be understood in english and this book teaches us what we need to know about medical writting.Grammar and other issues about the idiom comes along.
How to write to other physicians in the first place.
Then how to be fluent in English.Lucky us when both come together! - I found this book very helpful and fun to read. It gives you a structured approach to medical writing and includes very useful tips. It is a must have for rsidents and interns who are involved in research projects and expected to write up or at least participate in writing a study manuscript. This book gives you a short cut over the time and effort you may spend until you learn some basic writing skills. I highly recommend it.
