• I was pleasantly surprised by this book. An easy and smooth read, I learned a ton about keeping myself safe and out of harm's way. Honestly, at first I thought it was just going to be a series of martial arts positions to protect from an assault-which is why I bought it. This book does have that info- AND a bunch of other stuff that I never in a million years would have thought of myself. Like vacation precautions, tips for hiring licensed contractors, and protection from credit card fraud & phone scams. And not just the cliche stuff you hear about on the news, but really great details and pointers that the average Joe doesn't know and would never think about on his own.
  
  This book is also a good read for elderly people. Most of them are super trusting and naive and are easy targets for scammers. About a year ago, I walked into my parent's house. The phone rang, and my sweet dad answered the phone. Within a few minutes was telling some stranger on the other end his social security number. I grabbed the phone and asked the person on the other end, "who is this?" My dad said timidly, "It's the bank. There's a problem with my account." The guy on the other end demanded I hand the phone back and got huffy and rude with me. I hung up the phone and explained to my dad that the bank would never ask for his entire social security number. He seemed bewildered. I wonder what would have happened if I hadn't walked in? More importantly, I worried about how to protect my parents from stuff like this in the future? Well, this book covers it. I bought a copy for my dad, and he's reading it. Thank God!
  
  Actually, I think every person on the planet should read this book. And buy a copy for your parents.
